GUHSD Continues the Support of Literacy across all Content Areas |
|
Literacy encompasses all content areas . . . Math, Science, English, and Social Sciences, as well as all electives and courses that directly support special education students and English Learners. Teacher-led forums will be held throughout 2010-2011 to provide the opportunity for teachers to share best practices in literacy strategies, as well to discuss areas of concern in helping all of our students achieve their highest potential. If you are interested in facilitating a forum in your content area, please contact 644-8040.

This website is accessible to GUHSD Staff only (due to copyright restrictions).
There are four major areas of this website – the Front page, the Forums, the Files and the Links.
Front Page The Front Page, where you are now, will allow you to access general information about the GUHSD Literacy program, the calendar of coming events, a monthly article about the topic of literacy, and a sampling of tips and tools. This page also allows you to access the other parts of the Literacy website.
The Forums The Forums are where you will be able to post and discuss strategies or content issues, ask questions, and share lessons you have developed to support literacy in your content area. Some forums are available only to trainers or administrators and these require special access.
You can start your own topic, or respond to those already posted. If you want to share a lesson or document, save it as a PDF or word document, and attach it to your post to the forum. Just be aware that all documents will have to be approved before they will be available for GUHSD faculty to view.
The Files The Files are where you will find documents to support you in the classroom. The files are divided by content area and by course. You have access to any of the files, so feel free to browse.
Inside the files you will find basically two types of resources: word or PDF files with content, and powerpoint presentations with useful information.
The Links
The Links are collections of websites with useful information about literacy. There are general sites under helpful links, and then links under specific subject areas.
****** This purpose of this site is to make information available to GUHSD teachers in a form that is useful. The forums are an electronic town meeting so we can all share. If you have suggestions on how to make this site more useful, please contact
